Using OmniPage SDK

OmniPage SDK New Form Templates Editor

The OmniPage SKD has been a massive success since its release. Many companies have decided to implement it into their workplace with an eye toward minimizing the time spent on dealing with paperwork and significantly increasing productivity.

To keep up with the needs of modern businesses, Tungsten Automation has been adding many features to OmniPage over time. These features make sure that businesses have everything they need to make document digitalization and processing as easy and convenient as possible.

One of these features is the Form Templates Editor (FTE). If you’re curious about what it is, here’s everything that you need to know?

What is the Form Templates Editor and How Does It Work?

One of the largest document imaging processes is form processing. This is a rather complex task, and it requires the use of a good software that will extract the elements of a paper document accurately and ensure that it can be edited.

An effective way of extracting data is by using template-based form matching. Each template contains important textual and graphic features that separate one form from all others. When the form is sent into the processing system, the software extracts those features and matches them to the template.

To make sure that the users have the freedom to customize these templates, Tungsten Automation added the Form Templates Editor to the OmniPage SDK 19. It allows you to create your own form in a simple and convenient way. Let’s go over the way of using it.

How to Use It?

Thanks to a user-friendly interface, using FTE is fairly easy, and it lets you create fully customizable templates. Here’s how to create one:

  1. Open a blank from, or a filled one, and select the Auto Process Page button. By using OCR, the editor generates a template with all the locations and labels of the data fields. It also chooses four locations containing unique text as anchors for form matching, which enhances matching reliability.
  2. In case the template that you created has flaws, there are graphical tools that you can use to modify it. Once you get the desired result, save the template into the library.
  3. To test the accuracy of the matching process, open a batch of images, which can be of the same or different types, and test them against your template.

In only a few minutes, you can have a high-quality matching template. You can also add multiple templates to the library and test different image samples against the entire library. This allows you to create templates for many different forms and make form processing quick and easy.

The Final Word

As you can see, using the From Template Editor is fairly easy. It requires no coding, so it can be used by all professionals regardless of their level of computer skills.

This feature has made OmniPage SDK much more capable and versatile. As a developer, you can use this technology to deliver the same quality to your users that Tungsten Automation is delivering to theirs.
